I love the zinc protection without the white film!

Shared KINeSYS Sunscreen products at our Bike Club Raffle Prize Drawing and had a chance to talk to the group, (125 riders) about the KINeSYS Products, the great Community of athletes and why the Products are great for an active lifestyle. During the week, several of those who won a product shared their excitement for a great sunscreen product that is easy to apply and helped to keep their skin safe on our 80+ mile days in Iowa.

Wonderful products!

First zinc oxide sunscreen that I have used that is truly clear, even on my facial hair. The scent is very neutral and covers up the metallic smell that you sometimes have with mineral sunscreen. Highly recommended as my daily go-to sunscreen

simply the best sunscreen--no chemicals. does not sting your eyes. actually works!!!!

I love the smell and feel good about the ingredients

Until I got some of this zinc in my Champions pack, Id never considered buying any. Ill never not buy it again!

Love this for my daughter who coaches soccer camps all day in the sun.

Bought 3 containers through Amazon for my horses. They much prefer it to the regular baby sunscreen I was using on their white noses to prevent sunburn. I think it is the peppermint smell. Horses really like peppermint. Also, I was having trouble with scabbing on one mare around her umbilicus where flies were always biting her. The cream, combined with the peppermint smell is a great deterrent to biting flies. I liked it so much I bought 4 more containers which I gave to my daughter's for their young children to use over the summer. No bad chemicals to make them sick.

This stuff is fantastic! Our family used Kinesys for our race run this past weekend. I ran the full marathon while the rest of my family including the kids ran 5K. The Kinesys sunscreen performed really well and I couldn't even tell it was on! I have tried other Active Sunscreens and sometimes when I sweat on long runs, it drips into my eyes and stings like crazy. I did not have this issue at all with Kinesys! Great stuff!

I learned recently about KINeSYS thanks to getting it was swag by being featured in Runners World magazine's Club Notes. I have both the spray version (unscented) and the zinc and love them both. I generally use mineral sunscreen per my dermatologist's recommendation but I like the spray on my arms and legs because I don't have to rub it in as much as a zinc sunscreen and it takes less to cover. I use the zinc on my fact and I already prefer it to my previous go-to zinc sport sunscreen (another good product I won't name) because it's a drier formula. So I'm a new convert!

Goes on clear, greaseless. I love it.

Simply THE BEST zinc sunblock this fair-skinned gal has ever used! Rubs in clear (no ghost-face!), lightly scented with peppermint & rosemary, is nice & light but HIGHLY effective! Good for both skin AND the oceans - it's reef-safe & free of nasty ingredients (no parabens, preservatives, PABAs, Ocinoxate or Oxybenzone). 80 mins sweat & water-resistant. And Made in Canada! Solid 5 stars!!

I have been using Kinesys clear zinc for 6 months now and I have honestly noticed improvements in the overall texture of my skin. The superior sun protection this product offers is one thing, but to find a sunscreen that actually nourishes and soothes my skin is another. 100% addicted.

This is a good, SPF30 sunscreen, but I prefer the white stuff for real protection when we are at the beach. I like that it stays on and washes off easily. Don't leave it in the sun or it will melt, I learned the hard way....because it's great to keep in the car. A little goes a long way.

I like using natural sunscreen to the chemical kind. It works by providing full coverage to key areas. It worked and left no skin irritation.

So sunscreens come in many varieties and each have pros and cons. Basically, there are chemical sunscreens and physical barrier sunscreens. Chemical sunscreens convert UV rays rather than block them. They are clear and easy to apply but there is concern about use in children because they can affect hormones in the body. Additionally, several chemical barrier ingredients actually destroy coral reefs so they are not recommended for use in areas where there are reefs.
Physical barrier sunscreens are just that - they provide a barrier between the sun and your skin. Like a hat or clothing. They are the oldest and safest type of sunscreen but typically, they are thick and opaque. Like the white zinc oxide you used to see on every lifeguard's nose. These are typically minerals from the earth. They are considered safe for children and for coral reefs. But the thick color is not one you want to wear to the office, say.
This one comes in a small jar and it's whipped so it's pretty easy to apply. When applied in appropriate amounts, it leaves a whitish coloration to your skin but it's not so bad. It's also quite heavy and a bit greasy so I personally wouldn't use this as a daily sunscreen but for the beach or pool? I love it. It's safe and at 30SPF, it's perfect for my darker skin tone. I can stay in the sun for hours without burning if I apply this periodically.

This is great sunscreen! Its thick and does go on white at first, but it rubs in well and after about 10 minutes it's absorbed and not greasy. I like the natural zinc formula and how well it protects against the sun. Very pleased with it!

This has been easy to use and has caused neither of my children (5, 2) any issues. No greasy feeling and doesn't leave white cast when properly applied! Will continue to use.

Works well for my face in the Florida sun. Doesn't irritate my skin, the smell is pleasant, and it rubs in clear.
Sunnie H.
We used this sunscreen on our face and did not get burnt. It has zinc in it, so it has great protection. What makes this one different than other zinc sunscreens is that this one goes on clear!
The only downfall of this sunscreen, I would say that it has a strong odor of menthol. It also leaves a sticky feeling on your hands. It eventually goes away or you can wash your hands right away multiple times for that feeling to go away.
James D.
Adheres to the skin and rubs in clear. Lasts longer than any other product I've tried.
Nancy P.
I absolutely love this sunscreen. I'm in my 60's and I have combination skin that is prone to larger pores. After I wash my face and apply my moisturizer, I apply a thin coat of this on my face, neck and ears - I am fair skinned and I do not burn. That's a miracle. It has a slight smell to it which doesn't bother me at all.
The zinc oxide of my youth was white and there was nothing that I could do to make it fade. This has a very slight white cast which takes maybe 5 minutes to disappear. That works for me.
In addition, since I tend towards larger pores, this seems to reduce the size of the pores and get rid of some of the pending break outs. My skin looks and feels great during this hot summer we are having in the Midwest.
I hope this helps you make the decision that is right for you. Highly recommended.

My kids and I are super sensitive to the sun and burn on our faces like crazy no matter what I put on and even with hats. This stuff is gold. Haven't gotten burnt yet, I can't say enough about how much I love this stuff. All kinesys products are fabulous but this one is serious protection for our faces.

I purchased three sunscreens:
1. Naked Elements Baby Sunscreen SPF 35
2. KINeSYS SPF 30 Clear Zinc with 25% Natural Zinc Oxide
3. Sunblocz Tinted Face Sunscreen, SPF 50,
All of them have 25% zinc oxide as the active ingredient.
In terms of ease of application, Kinesys was the easiest to apply. It went on smoothly and was not oily. Naked Elements and Sunblocz were both very sticky and oily.
In terms of color, Kinesys was practically invisible. Naked Elements was very white. Sunblocz was less white but still whitish.
If I'm going to apply sunscreen on my face on a weekday/workday, I'd use Kinesys (invisible, smooth, non-greasy). If I'm going to the beach where I don't care if my face, neck and arms are all white, I will use Naked Elements or Sunblocz.

This is one of the rare mineral sunscreens that does rub in white! It's a bit thick and greasy though, so would probably only wear to the pool or beach.

We usually use the heavy duty stuff at the beach, but my kids always complain about "Kabuki" face because the zinc based sunscreen is usually terrible about rubbing in. This stuff rubs in clean, and lasts a long time. The smell is a bit strong, especially for sensitive types, and it made my younger daughter's eyes water for a while after applying. It does work, though! Just like regular zinc, and it's water resistant for beach use, too. I also appreciate the small size, which makes it easy to travel with, but also, alas, easy to lose! A little goes a long way, but I highly recommend this stuff!

This comes in a small jar for easier scooping. And, with a zinc oxide, scooping is what you need to do. It's a bit more difficult to apply than the more conventional squirt sunscreen. But it is also environmentally safer and lasts longer.
First I had to warm it up a bit to make application easier. Then it went on easily and after a while mostly faded into my skin. There is an almost menthol/toothpaste odor to it
Overall, it did a nice job.

This is great! I don't love it for my face, but it is amazing for the rest of my body. It is really thick and goes on easily, The scent is refreshing, and the sunscreen really works! I love the ingredients and the lack of other ingredients. It is quite moisturizing, and it forms a nice barrier, so you know it is there and is protecting - especially given this type of sunscreen. Zinc for the win - reef safe and really responsible!

My husband and kids tend to always get burns right beneath their eyes and on their noses. To combat this issue, I ordered this Zinc Oxide Mineral Sunscreen. It is fantastic. Unlike other zinc oxide sunscreens, this one rubs in clear rather than leaving the white lines on your face. It has a strong minty scent, which we all like. And the jar has plenty to last all summer. The sunscreen is thick and heavy, so a little goes a long way and it definitely coats the skin. It works well even after my kids have been in the water. Highly recommend!

My daughter requires protection from UV rays for medical reasons, so we usually look for a mineral based sunscreen for her to use. This one applied pretty easily and is definitely more clear than some of your typical white zinc based sunscreen. I'm not crazy about the scent. It smells a bit medicinal. However, it does get absorbed into the skin pretty well and helps provide a mechanical barrier from the UV radiation. It's not 100% clear, but it definitely less noticeable than your typical mineral sunscreen.

Zinc oxide is a wonderful thing in my book. I use it mostly in summer and for a specific reason. For large breasted women, zinc helps eradicate the rashes which form between the breasts from everyday normal sweating in the summertime. This is doing a wonderful job of that.
It has a very mellow peppermint/rosemary aroma which I adore. Some zinc creams can be overwhelming with fragrance which is hard to stomach, especially the flowery brands. This particular brand is WONDERFULLY scented and the scent dissipates once it has absorbed. Love the clear application as well.
I will purchase this again and again ! I love it.

This is a VERY heavy sunscreen. While it should be applied generously, there's no need to apply it so thickly that it stays white on your skin.
Of the many kinds of sunscreen, this is an old school, zinc based sunscreen. It's physical barrier based in protection.
I'm not really fond of the scent but it fades quickly.
This is not a sunscreen I would ever use to exercise in or do yard work. For me, this is purely a sunscreen for the pool or beach.
Also, I primarily use this on my face shoulders, and knees, due to how thick it is.
An application will generally protect for 2 hours or so, in my opinion.
Overall, this is a great natural solution to sunscreen. It's certainly premium, but it's very good.

Sheer enough to wear every day, the white blends in and doesn't give a ghostly cast. I like the tub because it doesn't explode in my beach bag like a tube or is too hot to touch like the spray can. A little smaller than the picture lets on, but you do get a lot if you're just wearing it on your face every day. Wouldn't last long if you used it on your body, too. I like this zinc oxide-based sunscreen because it smells nice, too. May want a higher SPF if you are out in the direct sun or in the water/ocean a lot.
Hope you found this review helpful.

This KINeSYS sunscreen is 30 SPF and is a mineral/physical block, based on zinc oxide and it doesn't contain chemical blocks like oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate, or octinoxate.
The texture is interesting, like a thick toothpaste, and it also smells minty (it's scented with peppermint and rosemary leaf oils). I was worried it would be grainy or lumpy, but when rubbed into skin the texture is very smooth, and as promised, there's barely any white cast.
It's effective, broad spectrum protection from sunburns, but you need to apply it correctly (use more than a dab and spread it evenly to cover exposed skin). It's also water resistant but you need to re-apply after 80 minutes.
It's a good option for those who prefer all-physical/mineral sunblocks.

I love the container and keep it in my cooler on the boat to keep applying to my face. Does a great job and mostly clear.

This sunscreen is definitely toothpaste consistency and is a little difficult to apply. I tried rubbing it in my hands first to warm it up and that made it slightly easier. It was also hard to see where I had applied it since it turns clear pretty quickly. I personally LOVE the scent, it doesnt smell like normal sunscreen at all and its amazing!
I spent 3+ hours in the pool and I was very impressed. I have sensitive skin and I am very pale and prone to sunburn. After all the time in the pool with minimal time spent in the shade... I DIDNT HAVE ANY SUNBURN. Seriously impressed. I'm used to using the highest spf I can find so I wont burn.
Besides being a little difficult to apply, the only other downside is the cost. Currently priced around $30 for this small container is a bit more than I would want to pay... but... for how well it works... I might be willing to buy it again.

KINeSYS's Mineral Sunscreen comes in a small plastic tub with a screw off cap. The sunscreen is white in color and thick and gloppy feeling. For a sunscreen it has a pleasant scent that smells minty with a hint of rosemary. The sunscreen goes on smoothly, and doesn't take a lot of effort to absorb completely, but it does make your skin a bit tacky. Also, if you don't rub it in thoroughly it can leave behind a white residue.
I used the sunscreen on my face, arms, and shoulders and on my 2.5 year old son's face. He has very sensitive skin and the sunscreen didn't cause any issues with skin irritation or rashes. We spent about 2 hours outdoors starting at noon on a day with a mixture of sun and clouds. After our time outside we had no visible sunburn or redness.
The sunscreen takes a little effort to wash off in the shower to remove the tackiness it leaves behind.
All in all... a great sunscreen.

I've had my nose sliced; like many others I know what it's like to get a cancerous tumor on the nose. Folks like me need a product with a high percentage of zinc oxide, and this has 25% zinc oxide.
Further, I love the mild peppermint and rosemary scent. It's clear, smells good without being overwhelming, and it's real easy to use.

This sunscreen smells very strongly of mint, both in the bottle and on the skin. It is very thick and a bit difficult to rub in. It leaves a greasy residue on the skin, but it is waterproof. It is reef safe and kid safe. It's a bit annoying to apply it out of a little tub. It protects well from the sun.
LawyerMom
This stuff is amazing! Slathers on nice and thick and leaves a noticeable film of protection on your skin. If you apply it very thick, it's still got a white sheen to it. But if you rub enough, it goes on almost like wax paste. I love the natural ingredients and my daughter didn't react to it. (She has a photoallergic reaction to a lot of the sunscreens out there, particularly which contain avobenzone or oxybenzone, an allergy that is far more common than you'd think.)
After 2 days at the beach, we got burnt only on the parts of the body where we forgot to apply it (tips of ears).
Only took away a star bc I so wish there could be a mineral sunscreen that sprays on and rubs in as easily as the chemical sunscreens, but that's like searching for a glow-in-the-dark unicorn.

I love using zinc for skin protection but hate the white residue.
This cream goes on white (a little goes a LONG ways) but as you rub it in, it turns my skin a little purplish and then disappears!
My skin is left a little greasy - more like a lotion and less like an oil.
The smell of this sunblock is really nice.
It's so nice that this is reef safe which makes it great for snorkeling or ocean swimming.
The container is a nice size for traveling and since just a little is needed it will last awhile.
** Thank you so much for taking the time to read my review.
I hope the information that I've provided helps to make your decision a little easier.

I use the cream every weekend-it trumps any cream out there and will tell people that -plus it smells so good!

I have very fair skin and have gone through many sunscreens. I really like this product I'm always looking for good products to recommend to my clients and readers.
Zinc has had been good for my face I like the size of the sprays to stick in my bag and travel with.

My current favorite is the clear zinc (LOVE the peppermint smell and so do my kids). This will be my go-to this summer training for the Chicago marathon or out on my paddle board.
Kate O.
I love the coverage of the sunscreen and how nice it makes my skin feel.
Pro-tip: It makes a great make-up primer AND protects my skin!
My FAVE product is the zinc! It's so nice and thick so I feel confident its really protecting my face - and it completely disappears! It really is an invisible zinc! And it smells so good!
Diane
Thank you! Your support of ATRA provided me with this opportunity to be introduced to KINeSYS products. I have benefited from all the products on my recent outdoor excursions. Living in Colorado and being active, requires sun protection especially after a surprising melanoma removal last year, successfully caught early, but still a shock. I am now a proponent of reapplying sunscreen every 2 hours of being outdoors. The Clear Zinc product is a great base to apply as I prepare to head out the door. Thank you again and I will be sharing with others the great KINeSYS sunscreen products.

I've tried tons of sunscreens. I'm a scientist, and studying sunscreen composition is almost a hobby. From what I know, there is no concensus as to whether chemical or physical sunscreen is better in terms of uv ray blocking. I traditionally try to buy one that combines both. However, I've recently become concerned about chemicals entering my bloodstream. In the past few years, I've been applying sunscreen at least twice a day - every day. So if I'm not planning on sweating, I will wear zinc oxide sunscreen. I'm pleasantly surprised by the texture of this one, especially on my face. It is super thick, but is nourishing rather than greasy. Can't comment on efficacy with regards to UVAs, but seems to work well for UVBs. I thought the smell was going to be too much, but not at all. I use this as my only face cream for going to work, under my makeup. Thumbs up!

LOVE your zinc!! My kids put it on themselves!! They are 2 and 6! Keep it coming Kinesys!!
